Vernon Technology Solutions is please to announce that they have recently completed a large request for IBM T41, IBM T43, Dell D600 and Dell D610 notebooks to a very high profile company.  They need to rent the equipment for a 1 day event. 

(However, Vernon also offers rentals of notebooks, laptops, desktops, monitors, printers, servers and Apple equipment from 1 day, 2 days, 3 days and up to 1 week, 1 Month, 3 Months, 6 Months and 12 Months or longer.  In additon, Vernon’s contracts are flexibily in that we also offer Rent-To-Own solutions along with purchase options at the end of the rental term.)

For the large deployment, Vernon was hired to load a customized image with Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2003 Professional (and/or MS Office 2007 Pro) and additional secure applications onto the rental notebooks.  The units needed to be delivered to 2 different locations; one in Markham and the other in Mississauga; and Vernon met and exceeded our clients’ expectations.  In addition to offering rentals, leasing, disposal and buy back of technology in Markham and Mississauga, Vernon also services all of Ontario, including, Ajax, Pickering, Toronto, GTA, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Vaughan, Woodbridge, Etobicoke, Oakville, Burlington, Newmarket, Whitby, Oshawa, Brampton, Aurora, etc…, and all areas in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Quebec, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  Vernon also included free spare units as back up in case any units failed.  Foruntately, the client did not need to use them.

Canadian Federal Government success in Ottawa

Vernon Technology Solutions was recently chosen as the computer rentals supplier for the recent CANADA SCHOOL of PUBLIC SERVICE, 2008 Communications Conference.  The event was a success from a technical standpoint, and everything tied to our notebook and computer rental solutions performed flawlessly.

The event was held at the Ottawa Congress Centre and spanned a multitude of large and small meeting rooms with the largest concentration of 69 laptop rentals being networked wirelessly in one large OCC salon.  End users were able to use Vernon’s quality notebooks to review on-line media and experiment with the various sites being leveraged during the special event.  Our ability to supply the hardware, licensed software, and technical services truly is ‘best in class’ said one of the lead AV managers on-site.

Not only did Vernon supply all the notebooks for the conference participants, but Vernon also supplied the notebooks and the dozen or so high-speed connections for the CSPS secretariat and offices throughout the building. 

Vernon rental technicians deployed the CSPS image including all the specific application software requested on each and every rental laptop, which made the delivery and install process seamless.

Vernon, know historically for PC, Notebook and Server Rentals was featuring a new product and service at the Massive show. Although short term rentals of computer technology are still a major focus of Vernon the “Disk Drive Crusher” has become a big part of Vernon’s services offering to Corporate Canada. Vernon by virtue of being in the computer rental business has always had to deal with sensitive data being returned to Vernon locations across Canada. Vernon has always deployed leading edge drive wipe software as part of “standard operating procedure”. However, when drives fail and can not be wiped another solution is needed. The “Disk Drive Crusher” was that solution. By crushing drives Vernon ensures visible verification of data destruction. Most recently with the value of drives decreasing and the importance of data security increasing, drive destruction is becoming a huge concern for business. On April 30^th I attended the Massive Technology show in Toronto as an exhibitor. It gave me a great opportunity to speak with some of our customers, new contacts and other exhibitors. I learned some interesting things.

We were displaying our Hard Drive Crusher, which drew much attention. A number of people I spoke with were using different methods of destruction including degaussing and magnets to destroy the data, but they agreed that they when they looked at the drive after using these methods, they were still not sure that the data was destroyed because the drive still looked the same. Crushing the drive provides you with instant and visible assurance that the data has been destroyed. I learned that the other popular method of drive destruction is pure physical manipulation pounding drives with hammers or stabbing them with screwdrivers. The most shocking of all that I had more than one large corporation tell me that they were using these types of methods. These methods raise the question of safety. The destruction chamber of the Hard Disk Crusher is made of case hardened steel and the crushing device will not operate unless the safety door is shut. These safety features will protect you and your employees from injury.
