Vernon, know historically for PC, Notebook and Server Rentals was featuring a new product and service at the Massive show. Although short term rentals of computer technology are still a major focus of Vernon the “Disk Drive Crusher” has become a big part of Vernon’s services offering to Corporate Canada. Vernon by virtue of being in the computer rental business has always had to deal with sensitive data being returned to Vernon locations across Canada. Vernon has always deployed leading edge drive wipe software as part of “standard operating procedure”. However, when drives fail and can not be wiped another solution is needed. The question on the table was “Is your business taking all the necessary steps required to restrict unauthorized access to your network and minimize data loss?” Vernon addressed this issue from the point of equipment disposition or re-deployment. To often corporations are not implementing processes to ensure drives are wiped properly or better yet destroyed entirely when computers are sold, donated or returned to lessors.
