Apple MacBook Pro

The company formally called Apple Computers, has recently shortened their name to simply Apple. This change took place as production of the iPod, iPhone, and many other non-computer products started to become very popular. However the dropping of computers in the company name does not mean that the computers have been dropped as well.

After first being announced in January 2006, and with the first Macbook Pro Core Duo 15” going on sale that February, Apple has been working hard and over the last two years developed new Macbooks, Mac Book Core 2 Duo, MacBook Air. Both the Macbook Pro Core Duo and the Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo come in 15″ and 17″ displays. The 15″ display hosting sharp and high screen resolution of 1440 by 900 pixel digital display, while the 17″ hosts 1690 by 1050 pixels.

The MacBook Pro has a wide variety of unique features including Multi-touch Technology which give the user the power to adjust images, enlarge text, flip pages and much more using the touchpad. This technology is similar to that used in the iPod and iPhones.   Another feature is the Magsafe connector for the MacBook Pro power adapter. Third is the iSight built in Webcam for pictures, videos, conference calls in iChat or movie making in iMovie.

Lenovo/IBM T61

The Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T61 is the improved version of the Thinkpad T60. This means it has all the features of the T60 plus some updates and improvements. It is being called “one of the best thin and light business notebooks.” It weighs 5.2 pounds (2.36 kg) and has dimensions of 13.2 x 9.3 x 1.09inches or about 335.2 X 236.2 X 27.8mm.

Added features are 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU Santa Rosa chip set, 2GB of fast RAM, and 802.11n Wi-Fi and long-range antenna.THe Lenovo / IBM Thinkpad T61 has a 14.1 inch widescreen with a matte finish over it so there is limited to no glare from normal light, and it has the same ThinkLight as the T60 for viewing in the dark.

Battery life on the 4cell battery is 2 hours. On the 6-cell you can get 4 hours, (2 hours of heavy viewing, DVDs or many applications at once). THe 6-cell battery is heavier and protrudes a bit past where the 4-cell would end.The keyboard is spill-proof and has 2 drain holes to carry off any drained liquid.

Once again, just like the T60, the fans are quiet and the computer stays cool. As well they support Windows XP or Windows Vista. As well, the ThinkVantage button, TrackPoint, Touchpad, and fingerprint scanner are all on the Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T61.

The ThinkVantage button is an easy access shortcut to many options and applications including: ThinkPlus On-site Service, ImageUltra BUilder, Access Connections, Active Protection System, Client Security Solution, Rescue and Recovery, System Update, Productivity Centre, and more.

This is a high-end computer and it does have the option of replacing the original IBM logo with the new Thinkpad logo (see picture).

The Lenovo & IBM Thinkpad T43 is a great entry level thinkpad. It is a great middle ground, it is not and expenisve high-end product and it is also a very fast and capable computer. It is created for the corporate customer.

With a Pentium M 725 1.7GHz processor, there is enough power to have a very strong battery life but still run programs quickly.  And with a 40GB 5,400rpm Hard Drive, even though storage size is a little below average, it is made up for in speed.

The Lenovo / IBM Thinkpad T43 has a dedicated ATI Mobility 7500 graphics processor meaning you get way above average graphics, and it is very clean and crisp on the 14.1 inch Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen.

This laptop is geared toward corporate customers. It is created with the workers needs in mind. It is above average and very desirable in that respect. As an average consumer’s laptop for games and DVDs, you may want to give this one a pass and take a look at the other Thinkpads including the T60, and the T61.

Measuring in at 12.2″ * 10″ * 1″ and weighing in at 5.1 pounds this laptop is very portable, and Vernon Technology has over 30 of these laptops just waiting to be rented, leased, or purchased.

Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T60

For a good High-end laptop, look no further then the Lenovo / IBM T60 Thinkpad. As a Thinkpad, there are traditional built in featureslike TrackPoint, ThinkLight, Biometric fingerprint reader, accelereometer sensor, and much more. The T60 has both a touchpad and a TrackPoint, so you can choose whichever one is more comfortable for you. The ThinkLight is a keyboard light which sits at the top of the screen so that you can see the keyboard, even in a darker room. The accelerometer sensor is able to detect when the thinkpad is falling and it shuts down the hard drive to prevent damage. Two more advantages to a thinkpad are the seven row keyboard which reduces the doubling up of functions on the same key and therefore reducing the usage of the Fn key, and The ThinkVantage Button, which starts a suite of very useful utilities including Rescue and Recovery.

The Lenovo / IBM Thinkpad T60, is not the smallest or the lightest, but is only 2.65kg and its slim and sleek thinkpad design makes it seem a lot smaller then its 329 x 268 x 31mm size. The Screen has a resolution of 1,400 x 1,050 and is 4:3 aspect ratio, rather than a widescreen.

The Lenovo / IBM Thinkpad T60 is one of the first ISV certified laptops that features Intel Centrino Duo dual-core processor with Intel Virtualization.  It can support Windows XP or Windows Vista.

This computer is high-end product so there is added cost, but for that cost is added quality and benefits but that is where Vernon Technology Solutions can save the day, by offering these thinkpads for rent or lease you can get these computers at significantly lower prices for as long as you need them.

Last but not least, the fan is very quiet, but also very effective, the computer will not get too warm. It stays cool.
