When Shredding isn’t Sketchy

Most of us watch movies, and we all know what it means when the bad guys is shredding the papers. Shredding papers has practically become synonymous with hiding the truth or destroying the evidence.

In the real world of Identity theft and high security risks. Shredding is not only appropriate but it is sometimes necessary for the safety of a company and its customers.

Shredding papers destroys information and in a corporate environment where companies are dealing with sensitive information of a client, garbage cans are not enough. 1. Shred on a regular Basis - if a company consistently destroys information then the concern is not as great as sudden or sporadic shredding.
2. Use the same shredding method or contractor for all shredding, don’t have most of your information go to a contracted shredder, while certain papers remain to be destroyed in other processes. This draws attention to the papers destroyed differently, why aren’t these papers included with the others?
3. Shredding equally is another concern, if only certain papers get shredded and others go into a trash bin, then it draws attention.
4. Have a developed Destruction Policy- in case anyone doubts your reasoning or actions, if you have a solid plan and can show that you follow it then you won’t get caught red handed and be at a loss for words.

One of the latest updates in this campaign, is the TakeBack My TV. www.takebackmytv.com The campaign exists because the “digital deadline” is approaching. The deadline occurs on February 17 of 2009, when American TV stations will stop sending analogue signals and switch over to digital. (for more details ) This means that old televisions will be thrown into the garbage en mass and this a very big problem due to the toxic chemicals and materials.

The E-scrap Conference - 2008 North American Electronics Recycling Conference took place on September 17th and 18th of 2008. It was a busy 2 days of many learning opportunities.

The conference also had representatives of many different Recycling companies and businesses so that everyone had a chance to learn about the latest news and updates in the High-Tech Disposal and Recycling industry.
